Re-taking GCSEs
If students have passed 5 or more subjects at GCSE level, achieving a grade C or above, they will not be required to sit any re-takes. Passing English Language or Mathematics is usually a requirement for any student wishing to study at degree level. Gabbitas is able to advise on tuition for retakes.
Students who have underperformed at GCSE in a majority of subjects should consider repeating Year 11. Tutorial Colleges offer one year GCSE intensive courses.
Not Meeting Sixth Form Entrance Requirements
Many schools and colleges have Sixth Form entrance requirements, which may specify that the student needs to achieve an A or B in a subject they wish to study at A Level. If a student has not achieved the right GCSE grades, Gabbitas is able to advise parents on the best options available to their son or daughter in terms of choosing the right subjects, qualifications and choice of school or college.
